Hey folks! My name's Justin, AKA Briggs, and I worked in the console gaming room last year. I'm wanting to return to do so again this year, but I'm having a bit of trouble in the transportation department. So I'm posting here to see if anyone might be willing to give me a lift if they're passing through my area. I live in East Texas, a town called Gilmer, which is not far from the I20 corridor. If you know where Longview or Tyler are, that's about where I am. So if anyone would be up for giving me a lift, I'd be much obliged  |

Hey Justin!
Let me go on record to say that if my car did not have issues with long distance travel, I would try to pick you up for the event myself.
We can discuss that issue as well as other stuff at our 1st staff meeting on March 7th. at 2:00 pm. It is via web conferencing, so you don't have to worry about traveling. If you have not already been invited (or you have forgot!) let me know for details. Thanks! |

Hang in there Briggs, something will work out. Ayame sounds like a good possibility already. You can arrange to talk about it here in the thread or you can also send each other a private message Just hover your mouse over the "Forum Menu" up top to use DFWGames PM messages. Oh >.< That is not good. I can get a train ticket to Dallas for around $21. That's what I did last year. Train to Dallas, then DART to the hotel. I'm just short on cash this year since I've been out of work a long time. Thank you for the offer, though.

If we chip in on gas then shouldn't you just get the train ticket for $21? It would be cheaper. And i'm sorry that I haven’t been much help. If Briggs lived on the way to Dallas I would have taken him for free. |

It might be though that he'd prefer to ride in with someone so it's an option to consider. Those kind of little road trips could even be fun. It's cool either way that you volunteered though. |

Justin, I am assuming that $21 for a train ticket is one way, correct? Let us know, as well as other travel fares that involved in you getting here, so we know how much we can try and chip in. Heck, if you can just get to Dallas, we can try and get you depending on the location of the train station. Thanks! |

Yeah, I just verified the price for the train. It's $42 for the round trip.
Departs Longview at 8:28am on Thursday, June 3, arriving in Dallas at 11:30am.
Return train leaves Dallas at 3:40pm on Sunday, June 6, arriving in Longview at 6:15pm.
I had initially thought it was $21 for the round trip, but double checking today shows it is $21 there and $21 back.
Once in Dallas, as I recall, I just took the DART train from the Amtrak station to the hotel and that only cost about $1 or so.

Changing subjects for the moment, Amy (ayameandkoga), I would like extend an offer for you to be a Shift Leader this event, since you did a great job last year imo. Please let me know if you wish to accept this or not, so I can schedule you appropriately. And don't worry, we will train you for the task.
Next ...and this is important. EVERYONE here NEEDS to fill out the A-kon Volunteer form!! (that includes you "Master" and "Ancient"!)
Finally, as an FYI, I rescheduled the first staff meeting that we were going to have on Sunday at 2pm to Sunday, March 7th., same time via web conferencing. Reason is that the Ancient and I may have a meeting with the A-kon Execs soon, and I would like to make sure that the first meeting has the latest info. If you have questions on this let me know.
